Antics’ Story

Meet Antics

Antics, a skewbald (brown and white) stallion would not have been here today had it not been for Sandy and Ian Vandenberghe who saved his mother ‘Antigony’ from certain death.

As Antics came into the world as a ‘gift’ (and he’s very handsome!) Sandy felt that he would have a superb role in life by helping raise money for children.

Antics used to stand at stud in his younger days with 100% of the stud fee going to the charity named after him. Antics has also made an appearance at fundraisers such as at cokethorpe school and came out to walk round the TR classic car meet more recently, Now he’s retired from stud and lives a quiet life on the farm.

Hi I’m Ian, I’m standing next to the man himself Antics! I’ve had a wonderful time over the years raising money doing my various walks around the world.

Wendy

Hi, I’m Wendy. I have been involved with the Charity since it began. We have had lots of fun raising money over the years by holding a variety of different events.

Linda

I’m Linda, I have been a Trustee since the Antics Charity was founded.
Like many people, my life has been touched by cancer afflicting those close to me. The aims of this charity are dear to me – the chance to contribute something positive to children & young people affected by the many challenges that cancer presents deserves our support.

Hannah

I’m Hannah, I have been a Trustee since the Antics Charity began and have had the honour of meeting many courageous young people that have been affected by cancer over the years.

Our Aim

Our Mission and Aim

‘Antics’ is a charity based in Witney, Oxon that was set up in August 2003 and became registered with the Charities Commission in February 2004 (Charity Number: 1102359). The charity has the specific aim to raise money for children aged 18 years and under, affected by cancer. This can be a child who is in active treatment for cancer; or who has a sibling or parent in active treatment for cancer; or who has suffered bereavement of a parent or sibling through cancer.

This idea came to light after Sandy nursed her uncle David a fabulous Cornish man, who was suffering from cancer in 2002 and sadly died, as he was an eager supporter of children’s charity’s himself, Sandy thought it would be a great idea to start a charity in his memory.

With the money raised through the charity, we provide funds locally and nationally by way of grant aid or through the purchase of goods or for social needs such as a relief break for the child.
